5I got in the hard way so you don't have to
I'm a senior leader in WA mining. I've spent 19 years in the industry, including years with one of the world's biggest miners, and worked across both major autonomous haulage systems.
I've got no degree. I started on a 30-tonne excavator in the suburbs of Perth. Mining starts at 300 tonnes, and that gap got me knocked back 43 times. The 44th application was the one.
I've since interviewed hundreds of people. The ones who get hired are rarely the most experienced in the room. They're the ones who did their homework and walked in ready. This handbook is that homework.

Do I need a degree?
No. Most mining roles don't need one, and the author doesn't have one.
Do I need an HR licence to start?
No. That's one of the biggest myths in the industry. A C class licence gets you through the door for most entry roles. The handbook covers which tickets matter and when.
Will this get me a job?
No one can honestly promise that. The handbook gives you the knowledge, templates and plan. The applying is up to you.
I'm from New Zealand. Is this relevant to me?
Yes. NZ citizens have full work rights in Australia, and the handbook has a section written with you in mind.
I'm on a working visa. Does this apply?
The handbook covers the basics of which roles tend to be more accessible on a visa. Always check your own visa conditions with the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent.

14-day refund, no questions asked. If the FIFO Entry System isn't for you, email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase with your order number. We'll refund you in full.
How refunds are paid. Orders are processed by our online reseller, who is the merchant of record. Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
After 14 days. We're not obliged to refund a change of mind after 14 days. If something's wrong with your download (a broken file, missing pages), email us anytime and we'll fix it or refund you.
Your rights under Australian law. Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.

2. Who you're buying from. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller, the merchant of record for all orders. They handle payment, tax, receipts and refunds. Their buyer terms also apply to your purchase.
3. What you get. A digital PDF handbook, delivered by download link straight after payment. Prices are in Australian dollars and include any applicable GST.
4. Your licence. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to read, download and print the handbook for your own use. You can fill in and use the templates for your own job applications. You may not copy, resell, share, upload or distribute the handbook or any part of it.
